Centaur Claus, "Halfway There Day"

Centaur Claus is a minor character in the series Kiff. He is an iconic figure in Table Town associated with the holiday of Halfway There Day.

Centaur Claus is a magical centaur associated with the Tabletonian holiday of Halfway There Day, in which the people of Table Town celebrate making it halfway through the year by putting 50% effort into everything. Like his species, his home reflects his association with half-related things: he is mentioned to live somewhere on the equator.

According to Tabletonian tradition, Centaur Claus rewards people who embody the spirit of Halfway There Day by visiting their homes with his magical trash can, allowing them to throw away their New Year's resolutions (written on paper) and go easy on themselves for the remaining year.

In "Halfway There Day", Centaur Claus makes a miraculous surprise appearance at the Halfway There Day dinner crawl to resolve the dispute between Beverly and the crawl participants. He lectures them all about the true meaning of Halfway There Day, clarifying that the holiday is not about strictly giving 50% effort, but actually about simply not feeling pressured to give 100% effort. Afterwards, he invites everyone to throw their New Year's resolutions into his magical trash can.

It is implied that he and Helen have a personal history together. A picture of the two together can be seen in the living room in Helen's house, and they flirt with each other when they meet in "Halfway There Day".
