Found in Ambiguity is a film that appears in the series Kiff. It was directed by Kiff Chatterley based on a script written by her and Barry Buns, and stars Barry and Renée du Bedat.
Background[]
In "Blooper Quest", Kiff and Barry, inspired by the blooper reel for the movie Wubbington: The End: Part One, decide to make their own film solely so they can create a blooper reel while shooting the film. They then write the script for Found in Ambiguity, with Kiff directing and Barry and Renée being cast in the lead roles. Kiff and Barry also recruit their other classmates as supporting cast and crew members.
First version[]
In the first version of Found in Ambiguity, shot at Table Town Middle School, Renée plays Emily Ramirez, a new teacher and former member of the special forces, while Barry plays Johnny Lou Anson, the "resident bad boy and all around unteachable punk". In the opening scene, Emily is about to teach her class about friendship, but Johnny interrupts her, questioning the importance of friendship. In response, Emily plays a song on her boombox, which causes Johnny to become overwhelmed with emotion.
Second version[]
Disappointed by the first version's failure to produce any bloopers, Kiff drastically rewrites Found in Ambiguity, turning it from a "sparse indie" into a wacky, prop-filled comedy.
The second version was partially shot at Café Penguino, and includes sequences such as Barry playing a waiter who has to dodge salsa dancers and skate across the floor on a marble while carrying a tray of ice cream bowls; Barry making a backwards free throw while playing basketball; and Barry and Renée, playing the Lord and Lady Lenny Lennington the Eleventh, reciting numerous tongue twisters. Once again, the filming goes perfectly and no bloopers are produced.
Third version[]
After being invited by Candle to watch a screening of the second version, Roy Fox offers to invest 20 million nuts into a reshoot of Found in Ambiguity. Kiff and her friends are given full use of Roy's studio facilities to shoot the movie.
The final version of Found in Ambiguity combines the plots of the previous two versions, while also adding more new scenes made possible by its much higher budget. Its trailer shows a new plotline about two lawyers, played by Barry and Renée, and a judge, played by Candle, who get caught in the middle of an alien attack, complete with explosions and car chases. The other new scenes seen in the trailer show Barry and Renée riding horses in a desert, Barry leaving Table Town on a train, tearfully standing in the rain, and jetting into the sky using a robotic suit, as well as Lady Lennington running inside the Fox mansion and Lord Lennington entering a coliseum. The trailer leaves it ambiguous as to how any of these plotlines are connected.
Despite Kiff expecting the film's production to go badly due to her and her friends' lack of professional filmmaking experience, not only does the film again fail to produce any bloopers, but it becomes a sleeper hit and sweeps the 44th Annual Tableys. Kiff eventually manages to make a blooper when she flubs her Best Director acceptance speech at the Tableys.
