"Fresh Outta Grandmas" is the first segment of the sixteenth episode of the first season of Kiff. It is the thirty-first segment overall.
Synopsis[]
Tensions rise when the crew gets wrapped up in a new collection craze.
Plot[]
Fingies have become the latest collectible craze in Table Town Middle School. While showing off their fingies to each other, Kiff and her friends begin fighting over whose are the best, causing Principal Secretary to confiscate their fingies and ban fingies completely. The students are outraged and say that their fingies are "their babies", but Principal Secretary replies that they said the same thing last week when he banned dabbles, which the students have already forgotten. He tries reminding them about dabbles and many other previously banned collectibles, all of which they have also forgotten.
Later in Miss Deer Teacher's classroom, the students draw their family trees for a project. Kiff asks if she can draw an extra branch in her tree for her "bonus grandma": Miss Rogers, an old lady whose gutters Kiff cleans. Candle mentions that as a child of divorce, she has four grandmas. Reggie notes that he has eight familial grandmas, then increases his total to thirteen grandmas by adding five old ladies who are in a knitting club with one of his grandmas. The children end up playing their own game called "Gram Grabs", in which a player "collects" a grandma by receiving a piece of hard candy from her and wins by "collecting" the most grandmas.
After spending the day hanging out with old ladies around Table Town, the children return to Barry's house to have their candy counted, with Kiff and Reggie tying for first. Kiff then says that she and Barry are "basically family" and collects his grandmas, claiming victory. In response, Reggie and Candle pair up to beat Kiff and Barry's count. The children eventually form two teams – Kiff, Barry, and Renée on one team, and Reggie, Candle, Trevor, and Billiam on the other – which are both tied. They ask the Wall of Goat how to settle the tie and are told that they have overlooked "the rarest grandma of all": Lady Lorraine, who hates children.
At Lady Lorraine's house in the Outskorts, Lorraine turns the children away, so Kiff calls one of her "collected" grandmas and invites her over for a garden party. A bus full of old ladies arrives, and Lorraine, who loves garden parties, gives Kiff a piece of candy. Kiff declares that her team has won Gram Grabs, but when the old ladies hear this, she is forced to admit that they were being "collected" for a game, causing an enraged Lorraine to sling various objects at the children. While hiding from Lorraine behind the bus, the children apologize to the other old ladies for treating them like objects. On the bus ride back, the children return to playing with their fingies, and it is revealed that the old ladies have also been "collecting" the children through their own game called "Kid Bingo".

- Wrinkle's Original, the brand of the candy given out by the old ladies, is a parody of Werther's Original.
- Gram Grabs is visually represented throughout the episode with 8-bit graphics in a style reminiscent of 1980s arcade games. The scene where Lady Lorraine transforms into a gargantuan 8-bit character and throws barrels at the children references the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong.
Continuity[]
- Reggie carries his fingies in a Star Star Throne Quest briefcase.
Errors[]
- The Disney+ captions for the episode contain an error. When Candle teams up with Reggie to combine their grandmas, she says "Me and Reggie are just as close as you and Barry", but the caption reads "Me and Richie are just as close as you and Barry".
