Kiff Wiki

"Kiff Theme Song Takeover" is a short in Disney's Theme Song Takeover series, and the first short in the series to be focused on Kiff. It features four alternative versions of the Kiff theme song centered around characters other than Kiff.

Synopsis[]

Helen, Barry, Candle, and Principal Secretary all demand that Kiff share her theme song.

Plot[]

Kiff enters her room and is surprised to find a giant Theme Song Takeover logo, as well as Barry, Candle, Principal Secretary, and Helen. The four are there to ask Kiff for theme songs of their own similar to hers, which Kiff agrees to.

The scene cuts to a first-person view of Barry getting up from Kiff's bed, much like the opening sequence. However, he becomes confused to find himself in Kiff's room instead of outside Kiff's window, and he ends up falling out the window. Candle then takes her turn, which quickly ends when she falls down Kiff's stairs. Principal Secretary goes next, but he finds it difficult to substitute Kiff's name with his own seven-syllable name in the theme song and he loses track of the song's rhythm, falling into the river from the opening sequence. Helen fares better by replacing "Kiff" with "witch", but her repeated chants of "Witch!" rally all of Table Town into forming a literal witch hunt, which targets her.

Back in Kiff's room, Kiff, Barry, Candle, and Principal Secretary apologize to Helen for joining the witch hunt. Everyone except Kiff then leaves, despite Kiff asking them to stay and help her move the Theme Song Takeover logo out of her room.

Transcript[]

Kiff: Huh. "Theme Song Takeover"? Everyone in my room? What's going on?
Barry: Well, Kiff—
Principal Secretary: Uh, uh, w–we were hoping—
Helen: Oh, cut the crabapples. We want in on your theme song, pronto!
Candle: Yeah, we know the show is called "Kiff", but we feel like this is more an ensemble show.
Kiff: Well, of course we can share my theme song.
Helen: Why, you selfish—oh. [laughs] Great!
Kiff: Barry, why don't you do the honors and go first? Hit it.
Barry: Barry!
Barry, Barry!
Wait, where am I? Why am I not outside the window?
Bug: [screams]
Barry: [screams]
Kiff: Barry, my song starts with a first-person perspective. You didn't see yourself outside my window because we were looking through your eyes.
Barry: Looking through my eyes... What did you see?
Candle: The bunny can't cut it. It's Candle's turn, baby!
Candle!
Candle, Candle!
Stairs? [screams] No one told me there were stairs. Exhausting.
Principal Secretary: Uh, might I have a go?
Kiff: I'm not sure that's a good i—
Principal Secretary: Principal Secretary! Principal Secretary! Principal Secretary! Principal Secreta— [screams]
What kind of theme song can't accommodate someone with a simple name like "Principal Secretary"?
Helen: Amateurs! Time for me, Helen... the witch!
Witch, witch, witch, witch!
Witch! Witch! Witch! Witch!
Mob: Witch! Witch! Witch! Witch! Witch!
Helen: Okay, what was with all the torches and the pitchforks?
Barry: I don't know. You started chanting "witch", and it just happened.
Kiff: Yeah, that was weird.
Candle: It just seemed right.
Principal Secretary: I myself got carried away.
Helen: You know what, Kiff, you can keep your exclusive little theme song. Helen out!
Barry: Yeah, that was kind of a lot.
Principal Secretary: I was never really a fan of all the horns.
Candle: I'll buy my own theme song.
Kiff: Wait, who's gonna help me move this logo out of my room? Ah, nuts.

Trivia[]

Cultural references[]

  • Helen shouting "Why, you selfish—" as she reaches out to grab Kiff is a nod to Homer Simpson's "Why, you little—" catchphrase in the TV series The Simpsons.
  • When Barry falls back into Kiff's room, he lands on the floor in a pose resembling that of Peter Griffin after falling down the stairs in the Family Guy episode "The Blind Side", a popular Internet meme.

Errors[]

  • The YouTube captions misspell Candle's name as "Kendall".
  • During Principal Secretary's take, Darryn's mouth is drawn incorrectly.

Production[]

  • Like other Theme Song Takeover shorts, this short is animated in Flash instead of the hand-drawn, digital ink-and-paint style of Kiff. The animation was provided by the Australia-based studio Liquid Animation.
