You'll always be my babies no matter how old you get.
Mary Buns, "Harry's Maturity Crisis"
Mary Buns is a supporting character in the series Kiff. She is the mother of Harry, Terri, Barry, and Kristophe Buns.
Profile[]
Mary Buns is the mother of Harry, Terri, Barry, and Kristophe Buns, and they live together in their home in suburban Table Town.
She is a single mother, and often needs her three older children, and sometimes Barry's best friend Kiff Chatterley, to babysit their baby brother Kristophe for her while she is out of the house. Mary's occupation has not been stated, but Barry has mentioned that she has to cross Table Town's city bridge to get to work.[2]
Appearance[]
Mary is a tall, slim bunny with light blue-violet fur and long ears that curl downward. She has large round eyes with small pupils and two eyelashes on each eye, a pink oval-shaped nose, and a buck tooth.
Mary's usual attire consists of a white short-sleeved shirt with a dark blue collar, dark blue high-waisted pants, red flats, and gold earrings.
Personality[]
Mary is warm and kind-hearted, and enjoys being affectionate toward her children, including giving them kisses on the cheek.[3] Nonetheless, she employs a firm yet fair approach to motherhood, and can be strict when the situation calls for it, such as when her children act up or squabble among themselves.
Mary owns a hot rod and enjoys driving it around Table Town, sometimes taking her children (and Kiff) along on her drives. She was unable to use the car for several years after accidentally dropping its keys down her home's bathtub drain, until Kiff inadvertently recovered the keys in "Maybe-sitting". Mary also seems to have an interest in astronomy, and is mentioned to be attending an astronomy convention in "Maybe-sitting".
Relationships[]
Barry, Harry, Terri, and Kristophe Buns[]
Mary's parenting skills are glimpsed in her debut appearance in "The Fourth Bath", where she is seen reminding Barry to eat his dinner potatoes, and later tries to break up the squabble between her children.
In "Harry's Maturity Crisis", Mary tries to give her children kisses, which they all gladly accept except for Harry, who feels he is too old to receive one. Mary later refuses Harry's request to drive her hot rod as she feels he is not yet mature enough, resulting in Harry running away from home. Being used to Harry's angsty teenage outbursts, Mary is mostly nonchalant to Harry's running away, as are the other Bunses (except for Barry). As the reality of the situation set in, Harry returned and apologized to Mary, who welcomed him back and offered to take him on a ride with her in her hot rod.
Kiff Chatterley[]
Mary greatly enjoys Kiff's company and has affectionately referred to Kiff, who frequently visits the Buns home, as her "bonus baby".[3]
In "The Fourth Bath", Mary helps prepare Kiff's bath when Kiff visits the house for a sleepover with Barry, while in "Maybe-sitting", Mary is so impressed by Kiff's babysitting of Kristophe that she gives Kiff a fixed gig as Kristophe's babysitter.
