"No Dad Ideas" is the second segment of the eighteenth episode of the first season of Kiff. It is the thirty-sixth segment overall.
Synopsis[]
When he realizes Kiff doesn't know what his job is, Martin is determined to prove his inventing prowess.
Plot[]
For a school project, Kiff has to draw a parent at work, so she has drawn a picture of Beryl, a professor, teaching. When Martin asks for a picture of his own, Kiff draws him holding a bucket of popcorn. Feeling that Kiff is unaware of what he does as an inventor, Martin brings Kiff along to his next pitch meeting at a technology company called WeNuts, but he ends up delivering a nervous pitch which ends in failure. Seeing Martin dejectedly feeding Greg and Linda outside the WeNuts building, Kiff decides that Martin needs a confidence boost. She tells him that she can set up a meeting with a major investor.
The meeting is held at the Buns residence, where the "investor" turns out to be Terri, whom Kiff has asked to pose as a CEO. Martin is overcome with nerves as he begins his pitch for a birdcage with a guest room, but Terri tells him that she loves the idea. Encouraged, Martin proceeds to confidently pitch a whole range of product ideas in the form of a song. He asks Terri which idea she liked best, and she randomly picks the "double trucker" – a trucker cap with a front brim and a back brim – saying she would invest in it if her funds were not currently tied up.
Taking Terri's advice, Martin has one million double truckers produced and reserves the Table Town Stadium for a product launch event. Fearing that his confidence will be destroyed if the product fails, Kiff advertises Martin's event all over Table Town, which succeeds in attracting a full audience on the night of the event. However, as Martin gets ready to take the stage, Terri arrives to deliver some pizzas he had ordered, causing Kiff to admit that Terri is not actually a CEO and that their meeting was orchestrated to boost his confidence. Stunned by this revelation, Martin freezes up onstage. As he is about to walk away, Kiff stops him and says that while the meeting was staged, his confidence was real, and that she really believes in his ideas.
Martin is motivated to carry on, delivering a confident demonstration of the double trucker. By the end of the event, however, the stadium is almost completely empty. Martin accepts that the world does not like his ideas, but is then approached by Greg and Linda, who turn out to be quite wealthy and want to buy the double trucker idea for one million nuts – enough for Martin to cover the cost of renting the stadium.
Some time later, Greg and Linda have reimagined the double trucker as the "double dipper", a bowl that allows two people seated at opposite ends of a table to conveniently eat chips and dip. Kiff and Martin watch a commercial for the double dipper and react approvingly. On the fridge, a new drawing by Kiff titled "Me and Dad at Work", showing her and Martin eating popcorn together, is seen.

- At the product launch event, Martin is seen wearing a black turtleneck sweater, a nod to Steve Jobs. The picture of Martin used in the advertising for the event is based on a 2006 photograph of Steve Jobs by Albert Watson.
- The instrumental heard while Beryl introduces Martin at the product launch event is based on the 1982 song "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project, in reference to the song's popularity as entrance music. The same instrumental was previously heard in "Hat".
Continuity[]
- One of the WeNuts investors is seen watching the dancing Table Town High School student from "Big Barry on Campus" on KlipKlop.
- Barry is seen wearing his formal outfit from "The Fourth Bath", now supplemented with an earpiece.
- The instrumental track for the song "Pack the House" was previously heard in "Brunch DJ" (during the scene where Kiff and Barry search Café Penguino for Harry).

This was the first episode where I got to board out a song, and I had so much fun working on it. what makes working on this series so enjoyable is not just the writing and cute character designs, but the vocal performances of each actor. #kiff #disney #storyboardartists.
