"Principal Helen" is the first segment of the twenty-eighth episode of the first season of Kiff. It is the fifty-fifth segment overall.
Synopsis[]
Kiff and Barry intervene when Helen fills in for Principal Secretary.
Plot[]
At an assembly, the students of Table Town Middle School are informed that Helen will be filling in as principal for a week while Principal Secretary is away on a Principals Only cruise. When Kiff and Barry express their disbelief that Principal Secretary would leave Helen in charge, Helen presents what she says is a video message from Principal Secretary making Helen acting principal. Though the "message" is merely stitched together from various clips of Principal Secretary, Kiff and Barry do not object further and Helen stays in charge.
Later, Kiff and Barry observe Helen bonding with the students and passionately demanding funding for the school cookout on a phone call with the superintendent. Convinced that Helen is taking her new duties seriously, the two sign up for her "Helen's Helpers" program and are tasked with cleaning the entire school. Afterwards, Helen makes them read lines with her while she rehearses a script. Kiff notices that Helen used lines from the script during an inspiring conversation earlier that day, and is further confused when one of Helen's lines states that she is the principal of "Chili High". Helen then leaves for an appointment.
Helen visits Roy Fox's office to audition for the lead role in his new film Hot Principal, but is told that the producers have decided to cast an A-list celebrity because "movies need to make money". Helen misinterprets this and concludes that she can buy her way into getting cast in the film. Meanwhile, Kiff and Barry clean the school gym. Barry reveals that he found the receipt for Principal Secretary's cruise in Helen's garbage, while Kiff finds and plays a disc labeled "Hot Principal". It turns out to be Helen's Hot Principal audition tape, in which Helen reveals that she got herself made principal solely so she could method act in preparation for her role, while leaving her actual principal duties to Kiff and Barry. Barry is unbothered and assumes Helen cannot do much harm in one week, only for him and Kiff to find Helen putting the school up for sale in order to make enough money to get herself cast in Hot Principal.
Kiff and Barry get the high school rowing team to row them to Principal Secretary's cruise ship. After boarding the ship and finding him, the two tell him about Helen's plan to sell the school, but he refuses to return, as he has found a girlfriend and is happy on the ship. As a last-ditch attempt to save the school, Barry poses as a potential buyer and tries to convince Helen that the school is too shoddy to sell, but Helen says that she already knows this and is thus giving the school away to Roy, who wants to use it as a filming location, in exchange for a producer credit (which Helen believes means she will be playing a producer character in Hot Principal). Just as Helen is about to sign her contract with Roy, Principal Secretary returns to stop the deal, declaring that education is his true passion – and that he has also just been dumped. Helen signs the contract anyway, but Roy, inspired by Principal Secretary's speech, rips up the contract. Roy asks Principal Secretary to star in Hot Principal, but Principal Secretary turns down the offer and sends everyone out of his office.
Hot Principal is turned into a film about Principal Secretary, who ends up being played by Chubbles Wubbington. Kiff, Barry, and an annoyed Helen are seen watching Hot Principal at the Table Town Mall movie theater.
