The first season of Kiff was announced on June 17, 2021.[1] The season premiered on Disney Channel with the episode "Thirst to Be the First"/"The Fourth Bath" on March 10, 2023, and ended with "Beach Day"/"Sun's Out Buns Out" on February 10, 2024.
Background
Kiff was first announced on June 17, 2021 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with the following series description:[1]
The series follows Kiff, an optimistic squirrel whose best intentions often lead to complete chaos, and her best friend Barry, a sweet and mellow bunny. Set in the bustling mountains, where animals and magical creatures live together in harmony, the series features the duo, who take the town by storm with their endless adventures and zest for life.
On June 15, 2022, it was announced that an additional 10 episodes had been ordered for the first season, bringing the season's total number of episodes to 30.[2] On January 24, 2023, a premiere date of March 10, 2023 was announced, along with additional details about the series.[3]
Writing for the season was underway by July 2021, and concluded by August 2023.[4] Animation work was underway by November 2021,[5] and retakes by April 2022.[6]
While not part of season 1, two additional special episodes – "The Haunting of Miss McGravy's House" and "Lore of the Ring Light" – were commissioned and aired as standalone specials prior to the premiere of season 2.[7]
