Kiff Wiki

I'm gonna need a bigger broom.

Sweepy Steve, "Faculty Lounge"

Sweepy Steve is a supporting character in the series Kiff. He is the head janitor and custodian of Table Town Middle School, and also handles various other jobs around the school.

Sweepy Steve is an employee of Table Town Middle School. He is the school's primary janitor and custodian, and true to his name, he is nearly always seen with his broom. Beyond this, he also performs various other duties around the school, including driving the school bus,[1] monitoring detention sessions,[2] refereeing sports games,[3] and coaching the school's "small soccer" club.[3] He lives on campus in a small house located on the roof.[4]

He appears in the title card sequence of every Kiff episode, putting up the poster for the episode's opening sponsor.

Appearance[]

Sweepy Steve is a fly with light green skin, light yellow eyes, a dark green mustache, and light chin stubble, as well as two arms, four legs, a pair of antennae, and a pair of wings. He is typically seen carrying around his janitor's broom and wearing his janitor's uniform – a green jumpsuit, a yellow cap, yellow rubber gloves, a black belt (to which a ring of keys is attached) with a gold buckle, and black rubber boots.

Sweepy Steve can mostly be found around Table Town Middle School performing his janitorial duties, or any of his various other school duties. He is very adept at his work, and also possesses great engineering expertise. When the school was faced with a surplus of children's macaroni art, Sweepy Steve, not wanting the art to simply be thrown away, developed a macaroni-fueled energy generator that was subsequently used to power the Table Town Aerial Tram, as revealed in "The Macaroni Affair". Although not a teacher, he spends his free time in the faculty lounge with his teacher co-workers.[5]

Sweepy Steve is revealed to be an aficionado of musical theater in "The Sound of Helen". Outside of school, he is a member of the Table Town Riddler's Society. A peculiar quirk of Sweepy Steve's is his tendency to fall asleep indoors when he is hit by a sunbeam, a trait that Kiff exploits in "Life on the Inside" to sneak out of detention.

In "The Sound of Helen", Kiff and her classmates ask Sweepy Steve to critique Helen's musical The Sound of Helen, which the class is staging. After watching a rehearsal, he bluntly tells them that it will be the worst musical ever produced. The class ultimately ends up performing an entirely new musical of their own, My Fair Helen, which he is highly impressed by.

To his shock, given Kiff's reputation as a model student, Sweepy Steve serves as Kiff and Barry's detention monitor in "Life on the Inside". Thanks to a plan devised by Kiff, the duo, along with Amira, Gareth, L.E., Mav, and Rosso, manage to break out of the detention room by making Sweepy Steve fall asleep and leaving behind decoys of themselves.

In "Lore of the Ring Light", Sweepy Steve plays a minor role in Kiff and Barry's journey to destroy the titular magic ring light, calling Ghost Wolf to fly Principal Secretary to the Wall of Goat to rescue the duo and their friends. In "Hairstory", he advises Barry to accept Cam Lensington's offer to pretend to compliment Kiff's haircut for 20 nuts. In "Good Morning Table Town School", he takes Kiff and Barry to the old Good Morning Table Town School studio within campus and encourages Principal Secretary to give the duo a chance to revive the program. In "The Tower on Trevor", he helps Kiff and Barry infiltrate their classroom through the roof skylight.

Appearances[]

Sweepy Steve appears in the title card sequence of every episode. To differentiate between his appearance in the title card sequence and his appearance within the episode itself, only instances of the latter are listed below.

Trivia[]

  • He had a similar-looking ancestor who was the groundskeeper for the Table Town Cemetery in the 19th century, who is seen in "Ye Olde Candy Shoppe of Horrors".
  • He is technically the only character other than Kiff to appear in every episode, if his title card sequence appearances are factored in.
